French Embassy in Yerevan hosted a reception on 25 July 2024 to honour para-athletes

In a powerful celebration of diversity and sporting excellence, the 🇫🇷French Embassy in Yerevan hosted a reception on 25 July 2024 to honour para-athletes from across Armenia, including refugees.

The event, held following the National Para Sports 🏋️‍♀️Festival, underscored the Embassy's commitment to inclusivity and support for athletes with disabilities. His Excellency Ambassador Olivier Decottignies 🇫🇷 warmly welcomed the guests, emphasizing the transformative impact of sports in fostering unity and inspiration.🤝

Ms. Karine Sujayan, the Head of the Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs of tge Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of 🇦🇲Armenia, highlighted, "This event exemplifies Armenia's dedication to inclusivity and respect for diversity."

Mr. Hakob Abrahamyan, President of the Armenian National Paralympic Committee, paid tribute to each para-athlete, stating, "These athletes embody resilience and strength."👍

Ms. Gwenolenn Le Couster, 🇺🇳UNHCR Senior Emergency Officer and Officer-in-Charge, lauded the event, stating, "This celebration underscores the importance of inclusivity and empowerment through sports."

Highlighting the evening, was the recognition of Ms. Greta Vardanyan, who was qualified to represent Armenia at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Her achievement serves as an inspiration to all.🥇

The reception also featured a touching performance by young Alvin Mayel Shalom, forcibly displaced person from Guinea, singing an Armenian folk song, captivating the audience with his talent.👏
