Armenian Para Athletics Team to Compete at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland

The Armenian Para Athletics national team will participate in the World Para Athletics Grand Prix, scheduled to take place from May 18 to 24 in Nottwil, Switzerland.
A delegation of six athletes will represent Armenia, led by head coach and team manager Hovhannes Gevorgyan and senior coach Susanna Martirosyan.
The team includes wheelchair racers Gohar Navasardyan (T53), Smbat Karapetyan (T54), and Arman Sargsyan (T54), who will compete in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m events.
Sprinter David Khachatryan (T36) will also compete, taking part in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m events.
In the field events, Sergey Mkrtchyan (F57) and Karen Tonoyan (F56) will represent Armenia in the shot put competition.
The Grand Prix is of key importance for Armenian para athletes, as it serves as a qualification stage for the 2027 World Para Athletics Championships. Participation in the World Championships is also a required step in the qualification pathway toward the 2028 Paralympic Games.
The team’s participation is funded by the state budget within the framework of the 2026 grant agreement signed between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the National Paralympic Committee of Armenia.
